Visitor Information. Cap-de-la-Madeleine Lower Range Front Light is best seen by boat, but the rear light can readily by seen by car. From Cap-de-la-Madeleine, travel northeast on QC-138 for 5.4 km (3.4 miles) and then turn left on Route de Red Mill. You will see the rear tower on Route de Red Mill after 650 metres.. The faithful witness of these two priests would bring about the birth of the now famous shrine at Cap-de-la-Madeleine. Devotion to Our Lady of the Cape reached a high point in 1947, when a pilgrim statue journeyed from The Cape to a spectacular Marian Congress in Ottawa. The Cap de la Madeleine Lighthouse is a cylindrical reinforced concrete tower 17 metres (55 feet) tall, topped with a circular iron lantern and a dome roof. Built in 1908, it is the second lighthouse established on the site to guide commercial shipping and aid local traffic. It sits at the tip of Cap de la Madeleine on the Gaspé Peninsula..
